The Technical Engineering Lead will be responsible for running the flagship Cloud commercial product line. This role includes overseeing architecture and design, migrating products from thick clients to the cloud, integrating mobile solutions, and developing cloud/FedRAMP-compliant offerings for customers. The Technical Engineering Lead will play a key role in managing the system development life cycle and collaborating with Quality Assurance and product management teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the Cloud commercial product line, taking full ownership of its success and ensuring its continued growth and development.
  • Oversee architectural decisions and design strategies, ensuring they align with the product’s goals and long-term vision.
  • Drive the transition of existing products from thick clients to cloud-based solutions, optimizing performance and scalability. (This includes hands on development skills.)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mobile solutions into the product line, enhancing its accessibility and user experience.
  • Develop and maintain cloud/FedRAMP-compliant solutions to meet the security and compliance needs of our customers.
  • Manage the entire system development life cycle, from concept to deployment, working closely with QA and product management teams.
  • Leverage your prior experience with commercially sold solutions to guide product development and market strategy.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team, ensuring that best practices are followed, and technical debt is addressed.
  • Help the team make sound technical decisions, ensure that the technical aspects of the project are on track, and participate in hands-on technical work.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous innovation within the product line.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as sales, marketing, and customer support to align product development with customer needs and market trends.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to establish testing procedures, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Lead multiple projects concurrently, tracking progress, managing resources, and ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of software systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance development processes to increase efficiency and product quality.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • SaaS product development experience required (meaning you developed software w/ an external license base, likely w/ a subscription model)
    • Prior experience with commercially sold solutions is essential.
    • Familiarity w/ physical security industry is a plus
    • We are looking for someone that has build / deployed cloud-based SaaS products
  • 1-3+ years of technical lead experience (will be over a team of 4)
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Agile SDLC w/ an ability to lead sprints w/ the dev team
  • 3-5+ years of software architecture with 5-8+ years of software development that includes:
    • Proven expertise in architecture and design of complex software systems
    • Current hands on development skills
    • Mobile responsive web
    • .NET (modern)
    • ASP.NET
    • C#
    • REST APIs
    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • React (strongly preferred, but we might consider Angular in lieu of)
    • Messaging que experience (any tech) is helpful
    • MS SQL
    • NoSQL is a plus
    • AWS SaaS required
      • Demonstrated experience in successfully migrating products to cloud-based platforms
  • Knowledge of OWASP best practices w/ some experience with building secure code essential.
  • Current or previous experience working w/ apps that connect to embedded systems / electronics is preferred
  • Previous embedded software (C / C++) experience is a big plus.
  • Previous VB experience is a plus. We are replatforming a VB / desktop thick client to the web / cloud.
  • Strong understanding of the system development life cycle and agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in integrating mobile solutions into existing product lines helpful.
  • Previous mobile development is a plus. A willingness to manage mobile development projects required.
  • Proven experience developing cloud/FedRAMP-compliant offerings is a plus.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities

In the spirit of pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is between $160,000-$190,000 annually. Compensation depends on experience.
