About the Role

Essence is seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner to join their growing Product Development team. This role will support enabling cross-functional teams to execute against strategic plans and roadmaps of work within Essence for one of our largest clients. The Product Development team focuses on applying the best agile and lean product management principles to create industry-first solutions for one of our largest clients to help make their brands become more valuable to the world. Our vision is to rapidly create prototypes and value driven product capabilities by successfully validating problems and solutions that deliver the highest value to our clients and end users.

Some of the things we’d like you to do:

  • Manage variable and changing requirements via groomed backlogs and signs off using those on quality assurance testing
  • Work with business owners on client side and other SMEs internally to define requirements. Plan, refine and and suggest prioritization of backlog items to ensure alignment with business and technology strategies and that we derive the best possible business value
  • Decompose complex use cases and technical requirements into smaller manageable stories by creating and prioritizing a backlog with your engineering team. Alternate between the detail and the big picture
  • Co-write acceptance criteria with members of the delivery team.
  • BDD/ATDD – Preferred experience with Behavior Driven Development/ Acceptance Test including the use of Gherkin to specify requirements
  • Work with client and end users based in a variety of locations, including the West Coast of the US
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, from collaborative requirements gathering to regular progress updates
  • Own and complete tasks to DoR (Definition of Ready, verifies DoD (Definition Of Done)
  • Provide product announcements, release comms and documentation – as required
  • Maintain business and functional capability documentation
  • Provide regular updates for key stakeholders on features and delivery timescale

A bit about yourself:

  • 4+ years’ experience in an analytically driven product role, ideally in the advertising industry, B2B, and/or building internal tools
  • Knowledge of the adtech campaign landscape, governance and advertising platforms. A good understanding of automation technologies in particular to leverage external APIs for data collection and reporting
  • Experience with Google Ads, DV360, and similar ad platforms
  • Experience is overseeing more than one product at the same time
  • Good understanding of ‘Specification by example / Behavior Driven Development and experience in formulating and validating problems and solutions using this framework
  • Using agile planning and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) and G-suite for day-to-day all the time
  • Experience of success in partnering with Engineering, and Client Services (or similar) functions where process improvement suggestions are encouraged and the culture is similar to being in a startup environment (despite the enterprise setting)
  • Strong understanding of the software development process, including being curious about how things work and being an avid tester
  • Excellent attention to detail coupled with the experience to see the bigger picture, provide extreme clarity to team and partners
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global team environment.
  • Established and professional communication, presentation, and motivational skills

A bit about yourself:

  • Experience in Media Activation or ownership of a variety of products in the Adtech/Martech space.
  • Experience in documenting system specifications (feature files using Gherkin, entity relationship diagrams, data flows)
  • Experience with Reporting and/or Compliance products from a Product definition and strategy perspective.

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $60,000 to $140,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
