We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Proposal Lead to join our team at Astra Space. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality proposals, responses to RFPs, and technical support documents that demonstrate Astra’s capabilities, experience, and value proposition to government and commercial customers in the Aerospace industry. The Proposal Lead will work closely with the sales and business development teams, engineers and technical subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to produce compelling proposals that meet client needs and win new business.

How You’ll Fulfill Your Mission

    • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to understand client needs, proposal requirements, and competitive landscape
    • Work closely with Systems Engineers, Technical Program Managers, and other technical subject matter experts to assess and articulate our ability to meet specific customer requirements
    • Write clear, concise, and compelling proposals that align with the company’s value proposition and demonstrate the ability to meet client needs
    • Interpret engineering documentation to create accurate technical representations of Astra’s performance specifications including creating compliance matrices, supporting graphics/tables, and concise written content
    • Ensure proposals are compliant with RFP requirements and conform to the company’s branding and style guidelines
    • Inform sales bid strategies and guide submissions to increase probability of winning new business
    • Manage proposal timelines and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality proposals
    • Participate in proposal debriefs and innovate to constantly improve our approach to responses, and standardize responses and deliverables where appropriate
    • Continuously curate our library of approved content to maximize reuse effectiveness
    • Be accountable for excellence in creativity, accuracy and utility

Desired Multipliers:

    • Systems Engineering education/experience
    • Technical writing experience in space, aviation or automotive
    • Capacity to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
    • Experience with US Federal procurement processes and developing RFx responses
    • Experience working in a fast paced and/or high growth business

$169,000 – $222,000 a year

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range in the San Francisco Bay Area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. If your salary requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply.

ITAR Requirements: This position requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology trade restrictions, specifically the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologies. All jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant’s status as a documented U.S. Person or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable U.S. and California laws. Similarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on U.S. government contracts.
