The Life & Annuity Predictive Analytics (LAPA) business unit is a lean, agile, diverse and geographically distributed data science startup within Milliman. Our team consists of professionals with varied backgrounds including data scientists, data engineers, software engineers/developers and actuarial domain experts.
We help insurers and distributors of life and retirement products to understand and use their won data, industry data, and customer data to advance their competitive position and improve financial outcomes. Through our powerful combination of subject matter expertise, data management, and advanced analytics, we provide our clients with tools to analyze their business performance manage risk and generate new business leads to facilitate more profitable growth.
The Role
The Life & Annuity Predictive Analytics (LAPA) Technical Sales Consultant will be responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients and acquiring new clients for data and managed services provided by Milliman. You will leverage your strong understanding of data, analytics, and technology and be able to communicate the value of each to clients and prospects.
You will:
- Develop and execute an individual sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue targets
- Collaborate with Director, Sales & Marketing to identify new sales opportunities and improve existing products
- Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements to ensure our solutions remain competitive
- Manage and prioritize sales opportunities and pipelines, providing regular updates and action plans to management
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients ensuring they are profitable for the company
- Provide regular sales forecasts and reports to management
Job Knowledge Desired
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, computer science, actuarial science, or data science, or another similar program of study
- Technical understanding of, and experience with, various data system such as cloud, data warehouses, data lakes, etc., and/or technology that supports analyzing data such as SAS, PowerBI, R Studio, etc.
Experience and Soft Skills Required
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in the data or technology industries. The target range is 3 – 6 years of experience.
- Strong attention to detail to organize administrative aspects of the sales process and client relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of data analytics and technology and the ability to communicate the value of data insights or managed services solutions to clients
- Excellent communication skill and negotiation skills
- Both the ability and willingness to clearly articulate your ideas
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment where the client is always our first priority
This role could be based in either the Milliman office in Chicago, IL or Seattle, WA, but we may be open to remote locations.
The salary range for this role is $65,000 to $105,000, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. This role will be eligible for an additional discretionary bonus.
