Ready to make an impact? Peraton is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Systems Technical Writer to work on the Digital Transformation, Acquisition, Modernization, and Modification (DTAMM) program. Become part of our team where we will partner with the United States Space Force (USSF) to employ modernization and digital transformation efforts that enable the acceleration of a national launch cadence across the Eastern Range (ER) and Western Range (WR).
The Space Force is focused on developing a scalable system capable of responding to the demands of National Security Space Agencies’ objectives and DoD’s Test and Evaluation (T&E) needs as well as ensuring the Nation’s ability to access space. The Range Architectural line of effort will be enabled through innovative employment of cloud technologies, software development services, AI/ML, hardware modernization, and cyber security strategies. These efforts will improve data acquisition, processing, and distribution while enhancing collaboration between government and commercial launch partners. Prototypes and emerging technologies will be advanced into the LTRS architecture and incrementally delivered as operational capabilities, supporting the objectives of increased launch capacity and tempo for our nations ER and WR spaceports. The Instrumentation Systems Technical Writer will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Oversees the editing of material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications.
- Develops and maintains style guides for project-related publications and documentation.
- Edits manuscripts by reviewing content for completeness, accuracy and correctness of language use and revises manuscripts to meet predetermined standards of style and accuracy.
- Looks for inconsistencies of thought, development or organization and confers with authors to recommend treatment of material.
- Reorganizes, cuts or rewrites as necessary.
- Allocates print space for story text, photos, and illustrations according to space parameters and copy significance, using knowledge of layout principles.
- Plans the contents of publications according to the publication’s style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements.
- Verifies facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
- Oversees publication production, including artwork, layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget requirements.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Experience with MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Mastery of grammatical standards used in technical documentation (Active voice, subject-verb agreement, proper use of tense)
- Bachelor’s degree and five (5+) years relevant professional experience; OR Master’s degree and three (3+) years of relevant experience; OR PhD and no years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Position requires an active Secret security clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with web content management systems or Wikis (WordPress, Confluence, MediaWiki)
- Experience with modern web publishing formats and languages such as HTML, Markdown, and CSS

Target Salary Range
$66,000 – $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
