The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from technologies and investments to supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, facilities management, and information technology services.
Technician IV
What You’ll Do:
- Perform mechanical assembly operations including cleaning, parts/materials preparation, mechanical /electrical assembly, polymerics processing, manual soldering, fabricate and build cables & wire harnesses, wiring harness installation, adhesive/bonding and masking operations.
- Work in a development and production setting, apply an advanced level of knowledge and skills in electro-mechanical and electro-optical hardware assembly, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Apply an advanced competency in use of hand tools, assembly tooling and general manufacturing equipment.
- Utilize reading and comprehension skills to follow documented build instruction and/or suggest revision to existing instruction.
- Maintain electronic build documents, required logs, records and reports in accordance with Ball Aerospace policies and government regulations.
- Review and correctly interpret schematics, drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Design and fabricate basic holding fixtures.
- Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
- May also perform functions in various work centers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Capabilities and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 6 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 4 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A good mechanical aptitude, with good dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to demonstrate manual soldering skills that are compliant per J-STD-001 preferred.
- Ability to function in a team environment interfacing effectively with both customers and teammates from different disciplines.
- Experience or familiarity with any of the following areas preferred: equipment maintenance, composite layups, mechanical and/or electronic assembly.
- An electronic background or related experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret electrical & mechanical drawings, specifications, notes, and wire lists.
- An ability to be trained to obtain specialized certifications required, to perform the assembly and fabrication operations. (Clean room, ESD, FOD, Crane, Solder, Splicing, Crimping, J-STD, IPC-610/620.)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to exercise them in a technical environment.
- A good mechanical aptitude, with solid dexterity and hand/eye coordination to work with hand tools.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work with heavy equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
- Experience in the Aerospace or Medical device industry preferred.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
