NATURE OF WORK:
This is a part-time position in the City of Miami. The Technology Instructor provides overall instruction and support to technology class students. An incumbent in this classification must have basic computer troubleshooting skills and be highly proficient in Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Essential Functions
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: developing, implementing, and maintaining a technology-based curriculum in a community-based environment; coordinating and delivering a variety of computer, phone, software and application training programs; teaching “Getting to Know your Computer” curriculum along with other advanced topics; developing creative teaching and learning strategies to optimize student performance; designing and administering assessment instruments to determine effectiveness of trainings; responding to community requests for training; providing technical support and guidance as needed; organizing and preparing training materials including course outlines, training schedules, lesson plans, and training aids; attending meetings, forums, and workshops in areas related to training requirements; traveling to, from and between sites (subject to class schedule); attending regular program meetings as scheduled; maintaining accurate attendance records; researching and compiling data and preparing monthly, annual and special reports; performing related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 60 college credits and one (1) year experience conducting training classes. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Creole is preferred. A valid driver’s license from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver’s License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experience.
