Under direction of the IT Director, the Technology Specialist is responsible for supporting Laserfiche Software and the management, content, and application thereof. It is also responsible for the design and development of digitizing processing and workflow solutions in addition to resolving daily issues. The position requires regular communication across other City departments and occasionally with external stakeholders. The Technology Specialist – Laserfiche Support position operates with a high degree of autonomy. Work has a high degree of impact on business continuity and reach throughout all City departments.

Examples of Duties

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops new, enhances, and maintains online forms to automate processes, including monitoring, analysis, and post-implementation support.
  • Develops new, enhances, and maintains Workflows to automate processes, including monitoring, analysis, and post-implementation support.
  • Collaborates in the identification of content classification, develops internal folder structure, and conducts needs assessments for process automation and implementation.
  • Develops, documents, maintains, and trains on standards, best practices, and system usage procedure for Laserfiche solutions.
  • Creates, maintains, and manages SQL tables used with Laserfiche.
  • Participates in the installation and testing of the latest Laserfiche patches and releases.
  • Proposes recommendations for improving content management solution capabilities.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and disseminates system performance data.
  • Implements scanning or other automated data entry procedures, using imaging devices and document imaging software.
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required

  • Knowledge and experience with current Windows-based Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with current Mac Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with current Windows based Server Operating Systems to include Windows Server Standard 2008, Windows Server Standard 2012, Windows Server Standard 2016.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server Standard 2012 and 2016.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft IIS 7 and beyond.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat DC or Creative Cloud.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio including the ability to set up connections to update and query data.
  • Experience using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, tokens, and regular expressions.
  • Ability to setup data connections to SQL Server and Query data from other SQL databases.
  • Ability to effectively backup and restore SQL data as well as host and guest Operating Systems.
  • Ability to setup and install/configure peripheral hardware and software used with Laserfiche (e.g., printers, scanners, card readers, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively deploy file and folder permissions for users’ directories.
  • Knowledge of installation and testing patches.
  • Ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated skills using oral and written communication in the performance of duties, including internal and public presentations.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritize details of a multi-task environment, set deadlines, and complete projects accordingly.
  • Excellent editing and writing skills, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, proofreading, and punctuation.
  • Ability to present information in a group setting in an interactive manner.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure, deal with public in a manner that represents mature judgment, manage stress, and handle multiple priorities.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience with Laserfiche, OnBase, or similar program, and 3 years’ experience with technical support content writing, and three (3) years’ experience providing technical support.
  • Or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the equivalent necessary for satisfactory job performance.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

Preferred

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience providing intermediate to advanced Laserfiche or similar program support in a medium to large scale client/server system.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION

Required

  • Possess and maintain a valid Idaho Driver’s License and proof of valid insurance.

Preferred

  • Laserfiche Gold Certification or acquire within one (1) year of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to see, with or without corrective lenses, well enough to read standard text.
  • Ability to hear, with or without hearing support devices, well enough to converse on the telephone.
  • Ability to speak well enough to verbally converse with others, especially on the telephone.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to write and operate office machines.
