General Statement of Job

Part-Time Position

Under general supervision, helps conduct daily operations at the Town of Vienna ‘Club Phoenix’ Teen Center and assists in creating a fun, safe environment for teens in programs, as well as assist in program development.

Work Schedule:Monday – Thursday 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday 2:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Some weekends for rentals and special events.

Hours subject to change based on Fairfax County Public Schools Calendar and Town of Vienna Schedule.

All new employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. A conditional offer of employment may then be made contingent upon the successful completion of fingerprinting, drug , and TB test.

This is an Non-Exempt Position.
Duties and Responsibilities

Reports directly to the After-School Program Coordinator.

Provides leadership and participant supervision at the Teen Center.

Answers phones, takes Teen Center registrations.

Implements activities during program hours.

Assists students with schoolwork, implements recreational activities, communicates and coordinates with local schools.

Explains & enforces Teen Center rules, supervises youth using the Center, and corrects unruliness & unsafe acts.

Supervises volunteers and maintains volunteer schedule and records.

Maintains registration and sign-in/-out log of all participants.

Evaluates program using established measures.

Responsible for setting up equipment for events such as meetings, rentals, classes, dances, DJ’s, contests & shows.

Responsible for the care & maintenance of all Teen Center equipment, making sure equipment is available, in working condition, and returned to its proper place.

Responsible for securing the Teen Center at closing.

Assists After-School Program Coordinator with all programs and activities.

Assists with the procurement of all supplies, maintains equipment and facility.

Reports and documents all incidents according to Town of Vienna policies.

Handles general office duties.

Handles equipment that weighs 50 lbs. regularly

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.

Must be CPR/First Aid Certified or have ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment.

Must be able to perform general office duties & provide assistance to the public.

Must have experience working with minors 11-17 years old.

Must have demonstrable ability to communicate with youth on a day-to-day basis, identify problem areas and ability to execute effective resolutions.

Must have demonstrable ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, as well as to understand and carry-on conversations with other individuals, both in person and over the phone.

Must have a can-do attitude, mentor mentality, bring your best self to work every day.
