Position Announcement

The Temporary Part-Time Communications Specialist will assist the marketing team with overall School of the Arts (SOA) branding and promotional efforts as needed. This includes internal and external promotion of SOA and Noorda productions and events, as well as SOA recruitment. This will entail a functional knowledge of SOA and Noorda branding. The purpose of this position is to collaborate strategically with the marketing director and marketing team to support The School of the Arts’ needs across recruitment, enrollment, awareness, and participation of various audiences in SOA programming.

Key attributes that will contribute to success in this position include excellent writing and copy-editing skills, experience developing and implementing strategic marketing, and communication programs, being well versed in social media strategy and content planning for measurable results, strong attention to detail, and organizational skills.

The Temporary Part-Time Communications Specialist:

  • Assists the SOA marketing team and SOA marketing director with various marketing programs and ensures materials are completed in a timely accurate manner.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies for ongoing SOA projects.
  • Contributes to blog posts, press materials, event descriptions and internal newsletter communications.
  • Collaborates with designers to produce visually stunning, on-brand marketing materials.
  • Assists in planning and coordination of school events related to promotions and SOA awareness.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assists with the creation of both marketing and editorial/journalistic written content for a variety of platforms (including but not limited to brochures, magazines, newsletters, news articles and releases, advertisements, video scripts, web sites, social media) and to a variety of constituents within SOA and the university community.
  • Assists with the planning, creation, and execution of marketing and recruitment plans and accompanying collateral. Assists with the development of student and faculty success stories for use in internal and external marketing material. Assists with the implementation of an on and off-line lead generation recruitment program. Assists with SEO and website management systems. In collaboration with University Marketing and The SOA marketing team, assists with integrated marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Works closely with University Marketing and Communications as well as THE SOA marketing team to assist with news coverage, and monitoring of resultant news coverage.
  • Assists in the design process of SOA communication and marketing collateral and adheres to and maintains university style and branding standards.
  • Assists with the creation, publication, and monitoring of social media content. Builds and interacts with SOA social media community in collaboration with the University’s social media efforts.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or another applicable field of study.
