Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under thegeneral supervision of the Division Leadership Team, the Temporary Program Manager of Home Delivered Meals is responsible for supporting day-to-day Home Delivered Meals (HDML) / Meals on Wheels (MOW) program operations. Additionally, the manager will work closely with the Assistant Director and Fleet Manager to assist in ensuring all aspects of needed program support are covered. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support Fleet Manager in coordinating and directing the HDML delivery team
  • May be asked to cover routes in emergencies
  • Support the management and coordination of expediting team
  • Develop tools and processes to better coordinate maintenance for the program vehicles
  • Schedule repairs or maintenance work and coordinate as needed with Fleet Manager and or program leadership team
  • Lead the management of enhanced systems and operations
  • Update procedures and protocols in collaboration with the Assistant Director, Fleet Manager, and Seniors’ Division Director of Operations
  • Support implementation and roll-out of new route optimization software
  • Participate in program initiatives to optimize data collection, routing, the ordering of meals, etc.
  • Audit routes as instructed to determine time and cost-effectiveness
  • Other related functions delegated or assigned by the Division Leadership Team

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to implement processes, systems and assist in overseeing operations
  • Valid driver’s license class D or E or commercial license class A or B and be a licensed driver for at least 2 years required; no more than one (1) moving violation in the past 24 months on driving record
  • A self-starter with a positive enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable based on the needs of the program
  • Ability to multitask, manage time effectively and work well in a fast-paced/busy environment
  • Ability to think and react quickly, use sound judgment, and problem-solve as needed
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to follow verbal/written directions or instructions
  • Ability to walk distances, climb stairs, bend, lift, and carry a minimum weight of 25lbs
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
  • Experience and familiarity navigating the Brooklyn area and various neighborhoods preferred; basic navigationskills with the ability to navigate city streets with a good sense ofdirection
  • Basic MS Office Suite knowledge
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with Home Delivered Meals, or a related program preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in auto mechanics i.e., general maintenance and repair: tire changes, battery, engine, etc. preferred

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of Home Delivered Meals experience, social service experience, or similar industry
  • Associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of Home Delivered Meals experience or social service experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one (1) year of Home Delivered Meals or social service experience
  • Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills may be considered qualifying
