Supervisor(s): TMS Building Principal

Contract/Salary: $175/day (first 20 days), after 20 days, pay is based on the 2022-23 TEA Salary Schedule

Experience: Prior job-related experience teaching to Common Core State Standards preferred.

Certification:

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate. Washington State Patrol and FBI clearance required.

Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities:

  • Skills and knowledge to promote learning of English, Language Arts.
  • Skills to teach Core ELA.
  • Skills to teach two sections of Social Emotional Learning and Study Skills
  • Fosters an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students; plans an instructional program designed to meet individual student needs and whole groups which may include at risk or special needs youth; prepares lesson plans.
  • Uses necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials, which are suited to the well-being of the students and to the nature of the learning activities, program and/or curriculum involved; implements established program or curriculum objectives attends in-service training and continues to improve professional growth through study and experimentation to remain current in methods and techniques for instruction.
  • Establishes and implements, in a positive and supportive manner, classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior and conduct; provides guidance, counseling, and discipline to encourage students to meet standards of achievement and conduct; makes referrals for assistance where appropriate, using the TMS PBIS and CHAMPS framework.
  • Communicates with students and families in a consistent and positive manner.
  • Establishes classroom goals and objectives, in conformation with courses of study specified by State and School District statutes, regulations and guidelines; evaluates and records student progress; prepares reports for parents or guardians.
  • Collects and interprets a variety of data; and uses data to inform instruction and provides reports for administrative purposes.
  • Attends or participates in all required staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary by the District and/or building principal, in order to accomplish the objectives of the position and for professional achievement.
  • Possesses knowledge of the Smarter Balanced Assessment.
  • Provides quality feedback to students on a consistent basis.

  • Employees must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms and on the telephone.
  • Physical ability to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to effectively manage student transition to a variety of locations (e.g. P.E., recess, buses and lunch) throughout the day.

Additional Job Information
Benefits: One hour sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Position not anticipated to work 630 hours per year so does not qualify for medical, dental, and/or vision insurance.
