Job Purpose
The Territory Sales Manager manages the sales operations and staff in a specified branch and geographic area while working closely with marketing through participation and input in products and services. Responsible for maintaining customer relationships and sales targets and ensuring efficient sales and customer operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve branch and territory sales operational objectives by contributing to geographic sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends; determine territory sales system improvements; and implement change
- Establish sales objectives by creating a sales plan and quota for the territory in support of company and branch objectives
- Meet branch and territory sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements, assist with preparing annual budget schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions
- Implementing effective territorial marketing strategies through improving brand awareness in the designated territory to bring more sales for the company
- Execute company-wide efforts and design innovative tactics specific to the territory to meet or surpass pregerminated sales targets.
- Provide leadership by establishing credibility, acting with integrity, showing, and inspiring commitment, and motivating and guiding the team to achieve goals
- Establish performance expectations, monitor against expectations, and provide necessary feedback to team members to enhance their growth in position and promotional opportunities
Qualifications and Experience

- 10 years’ experience managing within a food distribution facility environment.
- Previous sales management experience, including experience in developing the overall sales plan/ budget for the assigned branch
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact within a cross-functional team
- History of customer-focused leadership
- Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency, self-motivation, commitment, and sense of ownership is a must
- Familiarity with local industry trends and issues in the food service industry
- Extremely strong sales & sales management skills focused on managing salespeople, and training and motivating them to sell “value” more effectively
- Proven management-level leadership skills that are self-motivated and results-driven
- Ability to motivate a multi-functional, diverse team to collaborate effectively around a common vision
- Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments and shifts in a proactive and constructive manner
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is strongly desirable
