General Description
Serves as school testing coordinator and as an information resource regarding career and college choices. Exercises independent judgment and decision making. Contacts are made regularly and frequently with faculty, students and parents as well as the business community and resources outside of the school system.

Testing Coordinator
- Coordinates administration of testing with the assistance of school administrators, teachers, school counselors, and the Division Director of Testing (DDOT). Regular standardized testing includes the Virginia Standards of Learning Tests (SOL), substitute SOL tests, and the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT). In addition, the Coordinator collaborates with school administrators, school counselors, and Career and Technical Education staff to support coordination of credential testing tests approved by the Virginia Board of Education to meet graduation require ments. Test administrations occur in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters based on district testing windows.
- Creates the school testing calendar in coordination with other school personnel and coordinates logistics during each test administration.
- Maintains a secure test environment during test administration. Ensures compliance with all state and local test administration procedures and reports irregularities to the Division Director of Testing. Must make quick, informed decisions during testing–particularly when unforeseen events occur.
- Collaborates with Special Education and ELL support staff to insure appropriate implementation of standardized testing accommodations for students with IEP, 504, or EL Participation plans.
- Develops and provides training sessions for all school staff who have involvement with the test administration.
- Develops an understanding of score reporting procedures and assists administrators, teachers and students with the interpretation of score reports.
- Receives shipments of secure and non-secure testing materials for each testing program, ensures accuracy of contents and communicates additional needs to the Director of Testing. Maintains the security of test materials and accounting system for all testing supplies.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of test registration and submits needed data corrections in a timely manner.
- Works with division-level staff to coordinate testing for students participating in SOL Academy and CCPS Online.
- Assists with other school-level assessments as needed.
College/Career Center
- Assists the school counseling department to provide students with resources for college and career readiness: college and career planning information, military contacts and ASVAB testing, access to financial aid, job/training opportunities, and community service and summer opportunities.
- Works with students and parents to offer resources in assisting with college and career planning.
- Reviews, selects, maintains, and updates resource materials in the Career Center.
- Connects students with GRASP program representatives and other financial aid resources.
- Assists with the coordination of college and career readiness activities.
- Coordinates college/career representative visits and publicizes upcoming college/career events to targeted audiences.
- Develops relationships with local business partners. Posts part-time/seasonal jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities.
Budgetary Responsibility:
Maintains Career Center budget.
Report Preparation :
May prepare reports as needed.
Equipment Operation :
Personal computer, general office equipment, student laptops and Chromebooks.
Contacts :
CCPS staff, students and parents; staff of Pearson, ACT and other testing vendors; military representatives, business partners, college/university representatives, and GRASP/financial aid representatives, and the general public.
Work Direction :
Provides direction to all involved in testing.

Work Environment :
The employee regularly works in a school setting. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
Qualifications
Working knowledge of state testing procedures and school schedules in order to facilitate test administration; of college admission requirements, financial aid, career opportunities and qualifications; of general research principles and office practices; of business English and mathematics. Skill in operating a personal computer and in utilizing email, spreadsheet and database software. Demonstrated organizational abilities. Demonstrated ability to interpret, explain and apply policies and procedures; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and the public.
