Description
A Therapist I provides therapy services to a variety of agency clients. Works cooperatively with other community agencies and resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides therapy to individuals, couples, families and groups.
- Completes a mental health assessment and develops appropriate goals and treatment plans for each client as required.
- Completes documentation required by internal and external funding sources in accordance with agency and legal standards.
- Maintains records and monitor client payments/billings per agency policy. Works in conjunction with clerical staff to update and coordinate client scheduling and payments.
- Maintains a clinical schedule that conforms with 60% of paid time engaged in clinical services, and 40% of time engaged in non-clinical services.
- Is available to provide therapy services in accordance with the scheduling needs of their clients; to include evening appointments and/or weekend appointments. A minimum of one night per week, until the closure of their clinic site, is required.
- Promotes good public relations within the community; sustains good working relationships with interrelated agencies to facilitate referrals and cooperation on individual cases.
- Attends appropriate continuing education workshops and seminars to update techniques and maintains necessary levels of program specific knowledge and enhance counseling skills.
- Attends and participates in weekly clinical supervision with their licensure supervisor.
- Ensures that all documentation is reviewed and approved by their clinical supervisor.
- Implements clinical feedback provided in relation to work with clients.
- Consults with clinical supervisor related to all legal, ethical, and client concerns.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirements include an MSW or a Master’s degree in related counseling program. Proficient in communication; systemic, structural, behavioral, diagnostic and treatment skills. Good working knowledge of community resources.
Licensure Requirements: Pursuit of attaining Illinois licensure required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write case notes that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to set and maintain clinical scheduling in accordance with productivity standards.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Strong computer proficiencies are essential; must possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
