Why does the job exist?
Create reports consisting of land title documents obtained from counties where highway projects are being completed. Legality of title is reviewed, summarized and submitted to different units within the department. Changes are constant and title reports are updated frequently. Collaboration and research for special projects may be needed. Occasional travel and per diem. Overnight stay possible.
How does it get done?
Land Title research is done at all 33 county offices in the state of New Mexico. Travel to county offices is sometimes required to obtain records for land chains of title that are used in acquisition of property for the state highway department. With the information obtained from the counties, reports are created for use by departments for various reasons with different end results for each department. Examiners prepare requirements that need to be met by the department for free and clear land title.
