Nature of Work
Under general supervision of the Museum Director, candidate greets and assists tourists and visitors to the State Capitol; answers phones, conducts tours and related activities; greets and assists tourists by providing maps, literature, and information about the Capitol Complex and area attractions; directs visitors to various locations within the Capitol Complex; schedules tours; maintains stock of tourist brochure pamphlets and maps; assists tourists in emergencies; reports irregular activities to supervisor; conducts tours of the Governor’s Mansion providing applicable historic interpretations of places, events, and exhibitions; distributes evaluation material to visitors. Aids in completing monthly flexible hours and some weekends. The successful candidate with have the ability to interact courteously with tourists, follow oral and written instructions, conduct tours of prominent tourist attractions and narrate historical information, and keep records. A successful criminal background check may be a condition of employment. Performs other duties as assigned.
