Primary Function
Under general supervision, forecasts and meets hourly district real-time electric power requirements; monitors power load conditions, conducts hourly analysis, develops trading strategies and determines the most economical power source alternatives; plans and schedules resources to meet load forecast; negotiates sale, purchases and interchanges of electricity and gas with other utilities, energy marketers, energy brokers and the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, business administration, accounting, economics, or related degree and three years of experience in either trading, trading analysis, power and natural gas settlements, finance, transmission planning, engineering, power dispatching or other technical field.
Direct and equivalent power trading, trading analysis, power and natural gas settlements, finance, transmission planning, engineering or power dispatching experience may be substituted for the required education at the ratio of two years of experience for one year of education required.
Licensing & Certification Requirements
A valid driver’s license issued by the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles is required.
An official current driving record (obtained within the last six months) from your local State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or from the official DMV website must accompany the job application (no third-party records accepted).
Veteran’s Preference (External Applicants Only): Submit DD form 214 or other evidence of veterans’ status by the job posting deadline.
