Duties include installing, testing, repairing and maintaining various control and communication equipment, such as traffic signals, school zone flashers, emergency vehicle safety flashers, traffic video detection and monitoring equipment, and communication networks; operating equipment in signal installation, e.g. dump trucks, air compressors, jackhammers, trenchers, backhoes, bucket and pole trucks, and forklifts; and maintaining documentation on work orders, status reports, trouble calls, work schedules and other related activity records. Duties will require lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, working at heights up to 50 feet and in a variety of weather conditions and differentiating between colored wires. Knowledge of basic safety practices and the ability to communicate in English at a level necessary for successful job performance is required; knowledge of fiber optic, copper wire and wireless communications systems, and electrical wiring is beneficial. Schedule will include weekends, evening and night hours, and participation in the after-hours on-call rotation. A high school diploma or equivalent plus advanced electronic training and one year experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic and digital signal control devices required. To be hired at the higher pay range, must have a minimum of two years of experience and advanced electronic training / IMSA certification. Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Texas Class A CDL within six months from date of hire. A résumé must be submitted with application.
