Training & Organizational Development Specialist

Job Summary:
In UW-Madison’s Office of Human Resources, the Office of Learning & Talent Development (LTD) is looking for a Training & Organizational Development Specialist, and we invite you to join our committed and forward-thinking team. LTD provides hundreds of low- and no-cost professional development and learning events for UW-Madison employees (faculty and staff) each year. We work with campus departments to create healthy, inclusive, and engaging work environments to support all employees’ engagement, development, and retention in work environments that span fully on-site to fully remote.

In this role, you are responsible for curriculum development, facilitating training sessions on various topics (including onboarding, performance management, career development, and DEI) in virtual and in-person settings, evaluating training, and designing eLearning modules, training materials, and communications for a diverse employee population primarily focused on UW-Madison?s more than 5,000 supervisors and managers.

UW-Madison has over 22,000 faculty and staff located in 36 colleges, schools, and divisions. Employee functions span most occupational areas, with backgrounds covering the entire spectrum.
Responsibilities: Responsible for the creation, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of institutional trainings and customized solutions. Recommends and develops curricular strategy, documentation, education and learning programs to support organizational policies, procedures, technologies, and strategies.

  • 5% Serves as an institutional consultative training resource and liaison
  • 5% Serves as a subject matter expert and institutional point of contact for leadership and employees to provide advice and create customized educational approaches
  • 10% Creates, maintains, and leads learning and organizational development programs for various institutional initiatives, strategies, and needs
  • 20% Develops content and prepares and updates specialized instructional materials and assessment tools to align with organizational objectives and strategy
  • 40% Facilitates professional development courses, activities, and/or programs and guides learning to align with existing curriculum
  • 10% Applies learning theory and instructional design models in the consultation, selection, and
    application of educational methodologies
  • 10% Conduct needs analysis for requested learning to determine, recommend and/or deliver best learning solution

Education:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree
Degree in education, business, or related field
Qualifications:
Required:
– At least two years of experience designing and delivering learning in a complex organization
– At least two years of experience using eLearning and design technology (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Illustrator, or Microsoft Publisher) to develop formalized eLearning modules and training materials.
– Demonstrated commitment to diversity in the workplace and organizational success and development

Preferred:
– Knowledge of project management and coordination strategies with an emphasis on group facilitation, problem solving and root cause identification skills
– Strong analytic and decision-making abilities
– Skilled in collaborating with individuals or groups
– Experience providing professional development for supervisors and managers; OR executive leadership development OR employee career development OR DEI
– Ability to quickly learn and use new training and learning technology, including presentation software and virtual facilitation tools
– Proficiency in learning technologies, including computer software programs, presentation technology, and web-based systems (MS Office Suite, Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams, etc.)

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
