Description
POSITION SUMMARY
At Advance Care Alliance of NY (ACANY), the Training Specialist will work to deliver an engaging learning experience. The Training Specialist will be responsible for creating and delivering quality, interactive and engaging trainings; including content development; curriculum design; Learning Management System (LMS) administration for eLearning initiatives; pre-and post-tests, and ongoing evaluations. Additional responsibilities will include involvement in audit preparation and staff development initiatives.
This role ensures proper training of the staff through better understanding of their job, teaching new practical skills and motivating teams to carry out responsibilities and expectations consistently across the organization. The incumbent must be experienced in training delivery and comfortable training large groups, multiple days a week. This will be a highly visible role, working closely in concert with leadership and Care Managers to nurture a high quality CCO/HH program that compiles with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards of conduct.
ACA/NY is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that has been designated as a Care Coordination Organization/Health Home (CCO/HH) by New York State. ACA/NY is dedicated to meeting the needs of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities by providing comprehensive care management and coordination of service. ACA/NY supports 25,000+ people in its program with support services spanning New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify training and development needs within the organization through job analysis, appraisals and/or frequent consultation with management.
- Assist with designing, developing, and implementing trainings and processes with both the company’s requirements and team members’ needs.
- Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts in training development and delivery.
- Ensure training and development is consistently (techniques, objectives, direction, etc.) performed throughout the various teams and locations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to agency staff who are invited to present internally and externally.
- Research, evaluate and utilize new training and development techniques, methods, and procedures.
- Assist with the maintenance of training records for all staff, including managing and maintaining e-learning system accounts.
- Maintain database of all internal and external trainings and presentations.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure smooth coordination of training times and spaces.
- Provide ad hoc procedural supervision, particularly during new program and staff on-boarding phases.
- Assist with role playing and live monitoring.
- Assist with analyzing pretest, post-test, and data evaluation.
- Periodically evaluate ongoing training programs to ensure that they reflect current policies and processes.
- Maintain schedule of all ongoing training, roster of trainers and trainer availability.
- Willingness to travel throughout the five boroughs as well as Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Bachelors required, Master’s degree and/or pertinent field preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency or ability to learn authoring tools, preferably Articulate Suite, or Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Experience working with an LMS, preferably Relias.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a training and/or teaching role, inclusive of curriculum development.
- Absolute sense of integrity and personal commitment to serving people with I/DD and their families.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain the confidentiality of information obtained in conduct of work.
- Proven ability to employ a cross-platform experience in all aspects of a blended learning program.
- Strong documentation, analytical and critical thinking skills required.
- Sufficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Experience with the I/DD population preferred.

Work Environment
This position, in accord with business necessity, may operate in-person at an ACA/NY hub or at other sites, in addition to remotely. Travel to off-site locations required; therefore, the incumbent must be comfortable driving or using various forms of public transportation to reach destinations.
