We are searching for Transition Specialist to join our agency.

The Transition Specialist serves the mission of the Center and the Children’s Services Division by implementing and evaluating the Vocational Education and L.I.F.E. (Learning Independence through Functional Education) Skills and Transition program for the Langan School. The incumbent assists peers, therapists and students to develop insight, understanding and skills relevant to Vocational Education and Life Skills Management with opportunities to discover how these fields are a basic part of the development of meaningful life skills. May provide training and classroom consultation on curricula, functional assessments, transition assessments and learning strategies for teachers and therapists who provide services to Langan School students. Identifies/develops external placement opportunities to provide those students who are able with meaningful/successful work experiences Participates in transition planning with students, their families, social workers and classroom teams.

Education Required:

Associate Degree in any field

Specialized training, license, certification, skills: New York State Teaching Assistant or Teacher Certification, which must remain active and be maintained at all times.

Experience RequiredAt least 3 year(s) of job related experience, specifically in special education of secondary with students with severe disabilities

The compensation range for this position is $20.50-$22.50 (Bachelor Degree is an additional $1.00/hr). Rate of pay is commensurate on experience.
