Framatome is seeking an Analytical Services Metallurgist for our Horn Rapids Road office in Richland, Washington.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support and oversee the Metallurgical Lab.
- Analysis performed include: Metallographic examination of welds, ceramographic examination for pore and grain size, mechanical testing of a wide variety of samples (tensile / compressive / shear), high temperature / high pressure autoclave corrosion testing, SEM / EDS analysis and interpretation of results, XRF analysis for elemental composition, and powder characterization techniques (particle size and surface area).
- Ensure that technicians understand testing requirements and have the information they need to succeed.
- Validation of daily metallurgical sample data.
- Maintain current procedures and implement new procedures as needed.
- Provide support for Quality, Design Engineering, Production Engineering, etc.
- Perform special testing as required.
Travel: Occasional/sporadic
Required Experience
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:
- BS in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science Eng’g/Eng’g Tech. plus a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 yr engineering degree.
The following may be used to differentiate candidates who apply for this position:
- Should be familiar with: the preparation and inspection of metallographic samples including grain size analysis; mechanical testing of samples, particularly tensile testing; operation of SEM/EDS instrument and interpretation of results.
- Strong technical problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with at least one of the following: Lean, OEE, Manufacturing Excellence, Conduct of Operations.
Our total rewards package
The range of base salary for the position is between $77,000 – $101,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
