Job Summary
The Transmission Rates and Tariffs group is responsible for all transmission rate and tariff related activity for PSE&G. This position will support PSE&G’s wholesale transmission formula rate and related RTO rate strategy functions and activities through the following tasks. The position will have financial analysis responsibility to support the Company’s business strategies for transmission filings to maximize revenues and protect against negative impacts on the transmission organization and PSE&G customers. Provides ad hoc reports for rate, ratemaking and tariff support, report analysis and proposals for PSE&G to maintain and report on transmission revenue recovery or cost allocation. This position works on the team that provides fundamental information for, management and key decision-making of PSE&G’s transmission formula rate process, including work needed for annual filings (true-up and forecast), discovery request process, taking notes during the annual customer meeting, and other duties related to the transmission formula rate. This position works closely with other areas including Utility Finance (Planning/Strategy and Rates/Revenue Requirements), Accounting (Revenue), Tax, Legal, Energy Supply, and Asset Management (Transmission & Distribution Planning). Specific tasks include the Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities below (but are not limited to these). The Analyst I does not work independently and receives direction from team members and leadership.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting PSE&G’s transmission formula rate and revenue requirement activities by analyzing company information to develop transmission formula rate inputs by creating formulas in Excel and using advanced techniques (such as pivot tables and v-look ups); demonstrate an understanding of the components of the formula rate; produce ad-hoc financial information for the development of responses to information requests.
- Supports FERC Transmission Policy matters including running reports and reviewing material related to transmission financial/ratemaking strategy, FERC cost allocation matters, monitoring the regulatory landscape, internal/external communication, expert witness, etc. Provide ad-hoc reports to leadership as needed. Assists in the development and review of information related to transmission filings at FERC and assists in the preparation of the business plan by developing certain transmission-related inputs given to the analyst or confirmed by the manager.
- Supports all day to day activities associated with the Transmission outside of the Formula Rate, such as providing cost inputs to Utility Finance, draft overviews of incentive rate and other filings made at the Commission, and update specific FERC Form No. 1 pages. This includes compiling information, reviewing specific information requested by leadership and developing benchmarking analysis in spreadsheets and data bases.
- Quickly learn and understand the PSE&G transmission formula rate process and analyze information for the annual customer meeting (taking notes at these meetings and discussing with manager and team members) and being part of internal rate discussions by taking notes and using the information for analysis. Monitor transmission rate-related industry issues from specific online information provided to the analyst that may impact PSE&G’s transmission formula rate including cost allocation matters.
Job Specific Qualifications
- 0 experience with Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field (to be received within 6 months of offer); 3+ years experience in lieu of degree
- Valid U.S. Drivers License
