Transportation Bus Driver (Effective 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR)

Our school buses travel over 24,000 miles each day, and over 4,300,000 miles annually, including regularly scheduled routes, field trips, athletics events, and special education routes.

SUMMARY
The School Bus Driver is responsible for transporting school-aged children, and other authorized personnel, safely and efficiently over specified routes to/from the bus stop to school and/or various activities. The School Bus Driver also conducts pre-trip inspections, observes safety regulations and policies, and enforces student discipline on the bus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Five years of previous driving experience is required.
Ability to demonstrate mechanical skills as needed.

Valid Arizona Driver’s license

MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services – Transportation by Employees.

Speak, Read and Write in English

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License, Class B, and current Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate required within ten days of hire.
-Paid, Commercial Drivers License (CDL) training is provided by the district during the first week of employment.
Post-Offer/Pre-employment ADOT Medical Certificate with 50 Lift Test required.

CPR and First Aid Certification, certification must be maintained current during the course of employment.

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
Must submit to a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol screen
Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department.

Work Calendar: 9.5 months

This position is open continuously. There are multiple training classes scheduled throughout the school year.

Work Calendar: 12 months / $15.45TR per hour during the training period.

The position pays $18.78 per hour with CDL. Credit is given for experience up to $21.80 per hour

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
