HDR Engineering is looking for a Transportation Business Development Leader to join our growing Colorado market.
Primary Responsibilities
The Transportation Business Development Leader is responsible for coordination and oversight of HDR’s Colorado transportation marketing programs and initiatives. Oversee business development activities for major planning, design, and construction programs, as well as mega-projects; work with local operations managers and regional directors in the areas of strategic planning, development of annual and long term goals, budgeting, program leadership, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, staffing and marketing training.
- Primarily responsible for strategy to achieve annual goals for the Area
- Develop and lead 5-Year Strategic Vision & Planning and Annual Plan (Alignment and Budgeting)
- Responsible for identifying and expanding markets
- Identify and lead Strategic Pursuits
- Identify and propose Strategic Investments/ Hires
- Coordination with BDL counterparts across the region and company
- Manage transportation marketing efforts, annual budgets, communications and business development with business, operations, marketing and project staff to maximize client satisfaction, company growth and profitability.
- Manages the development of transportation marketing operating plans and budgets and implement tracking and reporting of Area marketing performance indicators, needed actions, and process improvements.
- Works with/directs area office marketing staff on transportation business group pursuits. Works with the Area Operations Manager and Area Transportation Business Group Director to build marketing capabilities through recruitment, and staff training. Collaborate with operations managers on key hires and investments.
- Coordinate marketing activities with the Client Development Leader and other Business Group leads. Marketing staff assigned to this position assists with marketing efforts department wide.
- Participate in development of strong client relationships and serve as a key client manager for selected clients.
- Implement company marketing policies and procedures, standards, quality assurance and risk management within the Area.
- Monitor new market trends and participate in development and implementation of local and regional strategic and tactical planning.
- Facilitate major pursuit proposal reviews, marketing program evaluations, client feedback, peer reviews, problem resolution, acquisition integration, recognition activities and client functions within the Area.
- Encourage and participate in business and community activities as representative of HDR.
- Ability to manage large projects and pursuits
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Planning, Environmental, Engineering or closely related field
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in client and partnership development within the Colorado market.
- Maintains a professional certification or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
- Proven capabilities in business development in a wide range of service areas and client types
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced in developing and managing diverse teams
- Work cooperatively with operations managers, technical and marketing directors on client development efforts
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position is $161,931.00 – $231,330.00 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
