POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of scheduling, assigning, communicating and coordinating all trips with the school staff, drivers, and contractors as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizes Trip Direct to coordinate all trips.
- Trains end users of Trip Direct as needed.
- Evaluates resource capabilities for drivers and buses.
- Coordinates other transportation vendors when Rockwood resources are exhausted.
- Communicates assignments to drivers and requesters and provides status updates daily.
- Updates Director on resource issues and recommends actions to ensure all trips remain on schedule.
- Assists other employees as relief to Dispatch, routing, or payroll as needed.
- Assists payroll to ensure all drivers are compensated timely and accurately for all completed trips.
- Maintains monthly trip mileage log for District.
- Approves and forwards all outside vendor invoices to accounts payable.
- Conducts weekly trip pick meetings for interested drivers.
- Maintains driver seniority lists used during trip pick.
- Remains on-call after hours and weekends for trip drivers and traveling school staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Multi-tasking skills in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent phone and email communication skills.
- Use of Window based software programs including Excel and MSWord.
- Ability to communicate timely and effectively when dealing with tense situations, using a variety of methods including cell phones.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Organized and flexible.
- Able to develop working relationships with all requesters.
- Positive attitude.
- Able to obtain or have CDL with P & S endorsements.
- Minimum of a high school degree.
- Three (3) years’ of experience working in a fast paced student transportation department office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends and meet the physical demands of handling a variety of student needs.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
