Position Summary:
As the Producing Director you will be responsible for leading the creative producing and implementation of Abrons Arts Center’s commissioned exhibitions, live performances, events, AIRspace Residency programs and programmatic collaborations with Henry Street Settlement. You will report to the Vice President of Visual and Performing Arts, manage an Associate Producer, and will collaborate with the Abrons Arts Center Production team to advance and execute commissioned projects.

You will have:
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in creative producing for live events, performance, and/or exhibitions, and/or company management
- Advanced organizational and project management skills
- Capacity to problem solve and be solutions oriented
- Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom, Sketch up, Vectorworks and Submittable
- Strong written communication and copy editing skills
- Clear and emotionally intelligent oral and written communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Advanced capacity to take initiative with projects and work independently
- Production management and or stage management experience (preferred)
- An exhibited interest in performing and visual arts
You will support the production team by:
- Serving as lead representative for Abrons Arts Center with commissioned artists, AIRspace residents, and producing partners
- Co-lead production meetings with a solutions-oriented approach while managing various stakeholders and deadlines.
- Leading the Programming department to maintain and surpass goals, oversee budget, and manage the team’s day-to-day work, professional development, and performance.
- Recommending and implementing Artist services and hospitality strategy
- Managing long term and short term planning meetings and manage institutional planning calendar in collaboration with the Vice President of Visual and Performing Arts and Production team
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
You will be managing exhibitions by:
- Overseeing Letters of Agreement for presenting artists, AIRspace residents, presenting partners, guest curators, and independent contractors
- Acting as liaison between artists and internal departments
- Managing production timelines for installation and deinstallation in partnership
- Ensuring accuracy of programming information, including dates and copy, in print, online, and in internal databases
- Leading coordination opening receptions with Front of House team
You will be managing live programming by:
- Serving as lead institutional representative for the Arts Center in Artist relationships
- Establishes project deadlines for performances and public programs in partnership
- Attending select technical rehearsals and all dress rehearsals
- Coordinating the procurement of logistical information about live programming dates, event times, and seating capacity, and monitors accuracy of this information across internal databases, as well as online and in print.
- Managing communication of live programming logistical information with Front of House and Production teams
- Overseeing the coordination of hospitality needs for presenting artists, including arranging honoraria, travel, lodging, meals, etc.
You will be managing program residencies by:
- Overseeing execution of contracts for resident visual, performing, and curatorial AIRspace residents, including guest studio visitors and residency application adjudicators
- Supporting Vice President with administrative tasks relating to adjudication processes
- Providing administrative support for resident bi-monthly cohort meetings and studio visits

Essential Physical Job Functions:
- Must be New York City based and be present on-site to perform duties at the Arts Center, with remote presence to be discussed with Supervisor
- Must be on-site to manage the load in and load out of all commissioned programs and events
- Must be available on weeknights and weekends to attend technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and programming
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
- Must be able to move throughout our 40K square foot facility that includes stairs, ramps, indoor and outdoor spaces.
