NATURE OF WORK:

Performs professional work in the coordination of the Transportation Department’s development and implementation of internal/external communications. Interfaces with other departments, outside agencies, and the public sector as a representative of the department in order to increase effectiveness and keep the public informed on Transportation projects and initiatives. Transportation initiatives include internal/external policies, federal and state funding applications, and potential forward thinking transportation opportunities. Perform as a project liaison for Transportation projects that are managed by Capital Improvements Division. Serve as a conduit of the Transportation Department to the Office of the Commissioners for briefings/updates on a regular basis. Work is performed under general supervision of the Transportation Policy Advisor and performance is reviewed through direct observation, reports submitted and evaluation of results obtained.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Communications, or Political Science, plus three (3) years of experience in a responsible office position with considerable public contact required; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must be able to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy with employees, officials, and the public.
