JOB SUMMARY:

Hamilton Community Schools is excited to engage with high-quality candidates in search of its next Transportation Router/Admin Assistant. This individual is responsible for evening school bus dispatch and controls activities to provide safe, efficient transportation. S/he must be able to problem solve in a timely manner. This position assists in the development of new or adjusted routes; provides information concerning routes, stops, schedules and other facts which may be appropriate, and drives school buses as needed.

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

START DATE: ASAP

SCHEDULE: 52 Weeks Monday-Friday – 9:00 AM-5:30 PM

PAY RATE: Commensurate with experience starting at $17.61/hour ($19.71/hour when driving routes)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Contributes to a positive work culture
  • Attends professional meetings, training, workshops
  • Read and interpret documents, correspondence and manuals
  • Drives bus as assigned
  • Assists in managing conflict and maintaining a positive culture and welcoming atmosphere
  • Assist in maintaining employee records, fuel records, keys, and other local and state-required records and reports
  • Build collaborative relationships with other staff and administrators
  • Operate any of a variety of automotive equipment
  • Greets employees and visitors to the office while maintaining a positive and professional attitude; uses proper business etiquette to answer telephone calls and emails; responds to presenting needs and provides appropriate responses and referrals; takes messages and relays information as needed communicate & assist with drivers on a daily basis
  • Create and maintain, print & distribute routes on a daily basis, with knowledge in all aspects of routing using the current routing software program
  • Provide exceptional customer service to District Stakeholders
  • Analyze complex problems and formulate effective solutions
  • Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software
  • Make decisions based on sound judgment, honesty and integrity
  • Assist with job interviews
  • Knowledge of and ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
  • Maintain District Stop Directory
  • Assist with Bus Stop Audits
  • Review, investigate, and respond to parental and guardian requests regarding bus stops, routing, and driver inquiries
  • Review the Michigan sex offender database on a regular basis and adjust routes and bus stops accordingly
  • Assist with driver schedule daily
  • Assist Supervisor with payroll as needed
  • Maintain and update required records and documentation for all transportation staff including personnel and payroll records; ensure completed payroll records are submitted to the payroll department
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

  • 18 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds.
