Description

If you enjoy taking care of customers and leading a team, consider joining us as a Truck Shop Manager. You will be directly involved in the day-to-day success of the truck service department, scheduling work, communicating with customers, and directing the work of technicians in the shop. Your focus will be on our customers and our technicians with the goal of providing superior customer service and fostering a great work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule preventative maintenance for all Trucks and Trailers.
  • Interface with the Director of Transportation to establish production schedules.
  • Responsible for establishing the week-to-week and day-to-day schedules of the Truck Shop team, ensuring the Truck Shop is properly staffed at all times.
  • Ability to maintain and build on existing DOT safety policies and procedures.
  • Forecast replacement for trucks and trailers on lease schedules and assist in preparing the capital budget.
  • Responsible for all truck and trailer Licenses and Permits for the States that URM operates in.
  • Maintain current labor agreement and handle labor disputes.
  • Enforce a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Ensure all DOT, State and Federal, WISHA and OSHA laws are being maintained.
  • Maintain training programs for maintenance personnel.
  • Enforce company rules and regulations and discipline as needed.
  • Maintain leave schedule for shop employees.
  • Oversee parts/clerical functions.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Seek technology and software that will improve shop performance.

Requirements:

  • 3 – 5 years of management or supervisory experience required.
  • 5+ years of fleet maintenance experience preferred.
  • High professional behavior and work ethic in all aspects of management and performance.
  • Must have working knowledge of government regulations pertaining to transportation.
  • Must have experience with post DOT accident and incident investigations procedures.
  • Diesel Maintenance/Mechanical background preferred.
  • Possess good leadership skills and the ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer skills required with word processing and spreadsheet applications preferred.
  • Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.
  • Ability to analyze P/L Statement to control expenses.
