NATURE OF WORK:
Manages Bill Frederick Park, a major City park offering traditional park services as well as recreational activities such as nature programming, fishing, camping, disc golf courses, nature trails, a children’s farm, and boarding stables. Plans, organizes, and supervises assigned staff, activities and resources including land, water, facilities, and related resources at Bill Frederick Park. The Manager provides for outdoor leisure time activities and events while protecting, conserving, and enhancing the esthetic quality of the physical environment and ensuring safety of visitors. Bill Frederick Park includes approximately 183 acres of park land alongside Turkey Lake. The Park has multiple facilities, with many diverse amenities. The Park Manager assures visitors have quality experiences without compromising the Park’s natural environment. Work is performed under the general direction of the Program Manager and is evaluated through reports, meetings, review of programs, and results achieved.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in park, recreation, leisure services or related required and four (4) years park experience, including three (3) years in a supervisory capacity required or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver License is required. Must pass police background investigation, including a polygraph. Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays as required. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, work in inclement weather, and lift 50 lbs. required.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
