Overview
This position supports the Healthcare group by underwriting at an advanced level of complexity for Healthcare portfolios. The candidate’s primary role is to support a team of senior underwriters with assessing and approving transactions in the Healthcare Asset Based Lending and Real Estate space which includes senior housing and long-term care facilities.The position requires a candidate to have strong credit and analytical skills, who will need to work independently and multi-task.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Underwriting – Underwrites Healthcare accounts according to applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Reviews financial statements, communicates with clients or prospects, and performs analysis to recommend borrower risk ratings and appropriate loan structuring. Ensures all involved parties are updated on underwriting progress and outcome. May provide guidance to less experienced underwriters through knowledge of underwriting procedures and information needs.
- Analysis – Sources, compiles, and interprets financial data to support structuring and approval of loans. Reviews industry information and comparisons, key risks and mitigants, and collateral to form a general business overview of the borrower. Utilizes results of analysis to underwrite Healthcare loans.
- Risk Management – Identifies risks through reviews, analysis, and research of new and existing Healthcare loans. Prepare due diligence questions as well as ability to lead calls and proactively interact with borrowers’ senior management. Engage third party due diligence firms and manage the transaction closing process such as KYC, compliance, background checks, etc.
- Business Support – May assist in Identifying cross-sales opportunities for new and existing relationships based on analysis activities. Identifies servicing information and prepares credit analysis documentation. Partners with associates and clients to determine needs and structuring of new requests, renewals, and modifications, participating in client and prospect calls as needed. May assist management with peer development and training.
The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is $120,000 – $140,000. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience in underwriting, portfolio management, and/or new construction
Other Qualifications:
- Preference for bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting
- Proficiency in financial modeling and financial statement analysis
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint Priority
- Experience in Healthcare Real Estate a plus
- Formal bank credit training a plus
