Uplift Northwest (ULNW) is the go-to temporary staffing and support services organization, proudly serving the greater Seattle area for over 100 years. Basic Food Employment and Training (BFET) is Washington State’s SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) E&T program. Eligible participants for Uplift Northwest’s BFET program are SNAP recipients who are seeking employment readiness training and assistance. The Program Assistant reports to the BFET Program Manager of Mission Programs and is responsible for recruiting and providing ongoing support for BFET participants. This position provides services such as career planning, financial literacy, goal setting, and the transition from social services to gainful employment.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with Program Manager regarding management of a caseload of BFET participants.
- Be the main point of contact regarding case management for participants.
- Provide resources for participants and refer to community agencies as needed including assisting participants in securing food benefits and childcare assistance from the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).
- Coordinate participant referrals to partner agencies.
- Assist participants with barriers to success by identifying solutions and referrals and other support services as appropriate.
- Maintain ongoing communication with BFET participants through office visits, e-mail consultation and or phone/text.
- Assess participant eligibility and coordinate participant eligibility determination with DSHS.
- In partnership with the Program Manager, work with participants to develop Individual Employment Plans, to set personal and professional goals, and to identify and overcome barriers to employment.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation in eJAS to reflect changes in the Individual Employment Plan.
- Assist the Program Manager on issuing support services to participants and completing required paperwork and data tracking procedures.
- Track and electronically report participant progress to DSHS to ensure compliance with DSHS regulations.
- Create relevant materials to support program engagement and participant’s progress.
- Participate in statewide BFET initiatives and meetings as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Counseling, Human Development, Education, Business, or a related field or two years non-profit direct service experience.
- Experience working with underserved and marginalized populations.
- Experience with justice-impacted population preferred.
- Understanding of equity and privilege.
- Experience with/knowledge of BFET or SNAP E&T a plus.
