Weyerhaeuser’s Western Timberlands Trucking operations in Goshen, OR has an opening for a Journey level mechanic. This is a multi-craft maintenance position focused on the troubleshooting and repair of log trucks and light vehicles through mechanical and welding skills. The position is full-time, swing shift, Monday – Friday.
Hourly employees at this operation are represented by the IAM-AW Union. The pay rate ranges from $33.300 to $36.435 currently based off qualifications in accordance with the labor agreement. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k plans, holidays and vacation.
Key Functions:
- Effectively interface with drivers to quickly detect, diagnose, and repair equipment failures, as well as contact or obtain any additional resources necessary to respond to identified maintenance needs
- Use laptop diagnostic systems, troubleshoot engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, brakes, and mount tires
- Perform preventative maintenance on trucks to include general servicing and fluid changes
- Complete diesel engine work (Cummins and Paccar)
- Perform welding/fabricating functions
- Administrative work within the maintenance tracking/reporting systems
- Ability and willingness to mentor and train other mechanics
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of diesel school and three (3) years OTJ or equivalent (6-7 years OTJ)
- Class A CDL or ability to obtain in one year is required
- Must be safety conscious, self-motivated, an effective team player, and able to organize and prioritize work
- Proficiency in fixing and/or re-building both diesel and gas engines, drivetrains, anti-lock brakes, electrical, emissions systems, etc
- Desire to further develop your skills as well as new competencies as they are required to meet the maintenance needs of the operations
- Must provide own personal tools of the trade
- Experience with Cummins Insight, Cummins Quick Server, and Paccar DAVIE maintenance software programs is desired
