As part of Application Data, you will be able to work with the best of breed NoSQL database systems, develop self-healing and automation flows, and help set future ro ad maps for NoSQL database systems across multi-cloud environments and on-premise. You will have the opportunity to learn different aspects of the Walmart retail systems by supporting our application teams that are driving our omni channel business along with core backend systems supporting our stores. Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide deep technical expertise and thought le ad ership that helps accelerate ad option of the very best engineering practices, while maintaining knowledge on industry innovations, trends, and practices.
  • Le ad and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information, writing, and developing code, and conducting unit testing. Communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project team and cross functional teams. Troubleshoot open issues and bug-fixes, ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs. Interact with project manager to provide input on project plan.
  • Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause), engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues. Formulate action plans, performing actions as designated in the plan. Interpret the results to determine further action, perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues and complete online documentation.
  • Provide support to the business by responding to users’ questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies). Facilitate resolutions and le ad cross-functional partnerships.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert ad vice and guidance to others. Support and align efforts to meet customer, business needs and build commitment for perspectives and rationales.
  • Model compliance with company policies, procedures and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans.
  • Utilize industry research to improve Walmart’s technology environment by analyzing industry best practices; benchmarking industry against internal processes; ad ding and influencing industry solutions for fit with internal needs; defining internal standards and processes
  • Likes to learn new technology/skills along with teaching them to others
  • Is customer centric in spirit and execution. Good with influencing others and managing stakeholders
  • Create software design and architecture for next software solution. This will be your channel to communicate your ideas with rest of the team. Not just one but evaluate multiple solutions
  • Analyze competing requirements and articulate tr ad eoffs and le ad discussions with business and development team, le ad ing white board sessions with team.
  • Demonstrate ad aptability and support continuous learning.
  • Create training documentation. Oversee the tasks of less experienced programmers. Assist with and mentor less experienced engineers regarding system troubleshooting.

What you’ll bring:

  • 6+ years’ experience IT infrastructure / Technology experience
  • 4+ years working as a DBA with Cassandra or other NoSQL technology
  • Experience in cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure
  • Expertise in data modeling skills for NoSQL solutions
  • Experience with database tuning, performance, backup and recovery strategies, patching, migration strategies going from one database product to another, etc.
  • Expertise in data architecture principles
  • Develop cost optimization strategies
  • Experience in monitoring, performance tuning and managing Cassandra clusters
  • Deep understanding of Cassandra design principals, cluster connectivity, security and the factors that affect distributed system performance
  • Engineering experience for automating internal processes with Java, Python, Ruby, shell, etc..
  • Provide guidance and drive operational and engineering excellence for reliability, alerting/monitoring, and product health
  • Create and capture best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g., white papers, code samples, blog posts)
  • Knowledge of CQL/SQL and CI/CD processes

The annual salary range for this position is $112,000.00-$192,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

– Stock equity incentives
