User Experience Manager (Technical Project Manager 3)

In this Technical Program Manager 3 role, you will perform project management activities in support of the development and implementation of the Weapons Learning Center and provide user interface, user experience, and metrics development and implementation in support of a weapons learning portal. This position will also support change management planning and implementation strategies to meet weapons program goals. Lastly, the successful candidate will support national security mission and the nuclear weapons design, engineering, and production communities.

Day to day activities will include:

  • Developing project plans, budgeting, work packages, and performance tracking.
  • Working as the connector between the technical organizations and the design and development teams (infrastructure and IT) to ensure usability and effectiveness of systems and/or tools
  • Developing and implementing change management plan(s)
  • Integrating cross-functional projects and teams

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:

Technical/Operational: You will need an advanced level of experience with analyzing customer user experience needs and translating these into requirements for the IT team to address effectively. Consultative experience integrating, testing, and providing user experience interventions.

Customer Interface: Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing effective internal customer and external vendor relationships.

Metrics and analysis: You will need extensive and advanced experience in the design, development, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of metrics for user-informed digital tools and/or applications. Advanced ability to interpret and evaluate data, results, and customer inputs. Ability to communicate the results of metrics assessments and provide data-driven recommendations.

Project Management: Advanced project management (managing scope, schedule, and budget) experience for moderately large projects. Excellent ability to garner stakeholder input and engage customers, vendors, and users at all levels. Demonstrated experience implementing change management strategies.

Mentorship:Demonstratedability to coach, plan, schedule and assign work of others.

Collaboration & Communication: Advanced experience working with stakeholders, vendors, sponsors, and cross-functional teams to achieve change management objectives. Excellent written and oral communication. Excellent customer service.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is preferred for this level.

Clearance:Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Design or development of learning system integration for technical or scientific subjects.
  • Experience working with sensitive or classified information.
  • Advanced degree in Educational Technology
  • PMP certification

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Work Schedule: A hybrid telework option is available.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
