About the job

This role mixes Product, Design, and User Experience (UX) Research, and is a unique part of a highly effective, global team of product designers. This role, as the first UX Researcher, will be partnered with the design leadership to build strategies, logistics and practices for UX research excellence. You will be working closely with Product and Engineering to determine the best solutions to discover the needs of our clients and of the business, and you will own the UX research process from beginning to end. This role will apply both qualitative research methods and quantitative research methods to investigate product experiences with our existing and potential clients, and will work collaboratively with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure that we are serving our existing and potential clients with user-friendly product solutions.

The UX Researcher is a key member of the Product Design team and is expected to be able to untangle large, complicated problems, and find simple and effective research solutions. This role brings the voice of the user into the designs for a crucial, high-growth product in our portfolio and will be interfacing with internal stakeholders, product, engineering, and our clients in a variety of industries.

What you’ll be doing
• As the first UX Researcher, evangelize and showcase the values and impact of UX research across the company, and build up the framework of UX research excellence
• Develop UX research strategies and logistics for various lines of products, and various types of clients
• Build up global UX research practices because both our product teams and our clients are truly global and truly local
• Lead and conduct both strategic and tactical UX research projects end to end through various stages of our product development process, employing both quantitative and qualitative methods, where appropriate
• Provide thought leadership on research methodologies such as piloting new tactics, where appropriate, for incorporation into our user research toolkit
• Collaborate with product teams to find creative and effective ways to recruit relevant research participants
• Partner with product designers on the creation of design artifacts in various degrees of fidelity
• Coach and supervise product manager, product designers and other non-researchers to conduct effective user interviews and usability tests
• Work with the design leadership and product operation team to successfully manage research vendors, research toolkits, as well as user insights

You’re an Advocate for Users: You communicate directly and regularly with internal and external stakeholders to fully understand our users’ workflows, mindsets, and experiences using our products. You serve as a voice of the users, incorporating user feedback into the designs. You work closely with other User Experience and Design counterparts to deliver a high-quality user experience. You validate product assumptions and design prototypes by testing the designs with the users.
You are highly collaborative: You actively listen to the feedback from colleagues in Product Design, Product Managers, Data Scientist, Product Operations, Client Services and other management roles. You initiate collaborative UX Research sessions with product and engineering to ensure the product solutions meets the business requirements and is technically feasible.
Work well with software engineers: You share your designs and the “Why” behind the designs with engineers. You partner with the engineering lead to understand the technical feasibility of the solutions before the final design is created. You lead interactive workshops with your Engineering counterparts in order to ensure that short- and long-term design goals are achieved. You provide the long-term design vision for the feature and help break it down into incremental changes that can be worked on independently.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in human/computer interaction (HCI), Cognitive Science, Psychology, Statistics, Behavioral Economics, Anthropology, other related field, or equivalent practical experience
• The ideal candidate will possess more than 5 years of experience conducting UX research, at least over 3 years for complex enterprise products on a SaaS platform, marketplace, or other software-led product in an agile B2B environment
• Experience with Web applications and Mobile apps in applied research setting
• Advanced experience in using Pendo, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, SPSS, R, Python, Google Analytics, User Zoom, Usertesting.com, or equivalent tools
• Strong examples of work that demonstrate knowing when to use which research methods d to move the work forward and yielded measurable impact
• Experience working with product development, engineering, data, and sales teams
• Experience conducting interactive workshop sessions with product, design, and engineering
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
