Valor Center Technician
This position offices in-person, on campus

Role Description:
The Valor Center Technician will contribute to Valor by helping to ensure high level execution of all Valor Center and School Wide Events requiring AVL and production support. The Valor Center Technician will also work within the Arts program to ensure high level production experiences for students and patrons alike. Additional production support in the areas of set building, technical production, and the equipping and support of student tech teams are also critical components of this role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a mastery of technical production through the following work:
    • Lighting design, programming and operation (Grand MA Light Board)
    • Audio front of house (Digico Sound and Audio Control Systems)
    • Microphones and audio reinforcement
    • Performer Flying Systems (additional training will be required)
    • Image magnification systems and control
  • Set building and construction
  • Valor Center systems and equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Technical stage management and support
  • Mentor students in technical production
  • Technical support for campus wide school events as needed

RESULTS

The Valor Center Technician will help ensure high-level technical execution of Valor events, proactively working with stakeholders to effectively carry out well organized, professionally presented product. A “can do” attitude will help propel the Valor culture, helping to foster a great production, event or presentation experience for all involved.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • A degree in audio, video, lighting or technical theatre is preferred.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in a production related environment is preferred.
  • Theatrical production experience is critical.
  • Proficiency in lighting design and programming is essential. MA or Grand MA experience is preferred.
  • Audio engineering/Front of House experience is valued. Digico console experience is desirable.
  • Rigging experience is valued. Experience with performer flying is desirable.
  • Video systems experience with both capture and display interfaces is required.
  • Experience with set construction, basic construction, and shop management is essential.
  • The ability to successfully train and equip student support workers in technical theatre and production support is essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.

POSITION TYPE: B: Traditional school calendar with additional weeks prior to school starting and after school ends. July – June

HOURS PER WEEK: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (evening and weekend work required)

PAY RANGE: $25-30/Hr
