VDC Manager/Sr. Manager – Water

The VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) Manager/Sr. Manager is responsible for management, implementation and execution of McCarthy’s Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes, tools and best practices for the Water Business Unit. The VDC Manager reports to the Director of Design Integration for the Water Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support VDC implementation during the entire project lifecycle.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of National VDC goals and initiatives.
  • Responsible for aiding project personnel in the implementation of VDC processes and best practices on their regional projects through pro-active training, support and examples.
  • Project-level management of VDC services and deployments across the nation.
  • Development and Implementation of the Water VDC Processes and technical tools.
  • Coordinate and manage workload of VDC Engineers and Interns/Co-Ops at a project-level.
  • Project-level execution of 3D Trade Coordination with Trade Contractors.
  • Collaborative development and implementation of BIM Execution Planning, LOD Development, and Model Management during design-phase.
  • Maintain an accurate and current database of VDC implementation/support costs for each project within the region.
  • Maintain, Evaluate and Report VDC Metrics on progress, cost and schedule to project teams.
  • Present VDC training at various national training opportunities.
  • Present VDC training at the project-level for Precon, Engineers, Managers and Superintendents.
  • Discuss and document VDC “lessons learned” and Verify/Confirm Concurrence.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural Engineering related degree field is required.
  • Ideal candidate holds a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the building construction field.
  • Specific technical expertise 3D building systems coordination is required.
  • Proficient in the use of modeling/management applications such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revizto, Procore and other tools where applicable. Preferred to be comfortable and flexible with various software (Microstation, Bentley products, etc.).
  • Proficient with World Coordinate Systems and survey coordination.
  • Preferred experience with ancillary software platforms such as SketchUp, Tekla, Fuzor, Synchro 4D or others comparable for modeling, logistics and sequencing.
  • Proficient in the use of documentation applications such as BlueBeam or similar.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in daily management programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred understanding of Water/Wastewater infrastructure construction.
  • Strong overall knowledge of building construction sequencing.
  • Understanding of Preconstruction services.
  • Understanding of CPM scheduling.
  • Excellent, clear, and motivating verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, facilitate and document meetings.
  • Excellent coordination and collaboration skills with remote partners, clients, and project teams.
  • Enjoys training others and is a team builder; developmentally minded.
  • Open to feedback and able to convert feedback into best practices.
  • Up to 25% national travel required.

Colorado Only: In accordance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB19-085), we are including McCarthy’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of a range of entry level base compensation at the time of the posting. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Given the dynamic nature of the large-scale commercial construction industry, a candidate’s project portfolio and background can change the role and compensation for which that candidate might be qualified. The title and pay range for this role could change based on candidate qualifications and experience. Pay Range: $97,000 – $134,800
