Key Leadership Responsibilities

Global Atellica Assays Portfolio Strategy

Utilize customer & commercial insights to lead the team implementing market strategies for strategic disease states, panels and key assays, aligning closely with priorities for across CLS marketing. Create global assay framework that allows for prioritization across the regions. Collaborate and provide input with R&D and commercial leaders to ensure effective and timely development of sales and marketing strategies for existing and future assays. Lead structured & impactful new global assay launches. Develop premium & competitive pricing and assay growth strategies. Monitor by varying disease states & markets and adjust for maximum profit impact. This “assays and CLS champion” is the focal point regarding core lab assays and market knowledge; planning/execution; and achievement of business objectives.

The Vice-President, Head of Atellica Assays is responsible for the product from identification of customer and market needs/wants; to concept and product development; product launch and commercialization activities; through and including product discontinuation. Leads the implementation of a multi-year product road map and market strategies across critical disease states (eg oncology, infectious disease, cardiac, etc). Participates in strategic planning initiatives such as PMP (Portfolio Management Process) and LRP (Long Rang Plan) to ensure profitable growth opportunities are supported.

CLS Marketing Leadership Team Core Member

Work in close partnership with Marketing peers, Commercial, R&D and the other functional leaders to set the strategic direction and tactical implementation of activities that will lead to a customer-centric culture and an organization that has a passion to achieve sustained, superior results. Drives visible and quantifiable outcomes through the development, execution and measurement of a CLS integrated marketing plan across global and zone marketing organizations. Collaborates to build a marketing community that has deep customer insight, is analytical and objective, inspired to innovate and can bring the organization along to step boldly and confidently.

Marketing Outcomes

D evelop a comprehensive Atellica Disease State and Assay marketing strategy that builds brand awareness, improves brand reputation, fosters innovation, and leverages partnerships while increasing market share, customer satisfaction and retention. Creates global demand for Atellica Assays in a customer-centric manner (exemplified by high satisfaction of needs; and therefore appropriately differentiated and adding value). This includes definition of and segmentation of the market; targeting and positioning; and all aspects of the marketing mix (product; place/distribution; price; and integrated marketing/promotion). Fosters KOL input and advocacy, builds customer scientific champions and clinical value. Drives visible and quantifiable outcomes for the Assay portfolio via clinical & operational value proposition. Utilize expertise to develop premium assays customized for clinical pathways in strategic disease states and panels eg Cardiometabolic, Reproductive/Thyroid, General Chemistry, Oncology & Chronic Disease, Infectious Disease & Specialty. Measure penetration rate of assay panels/offerings and adjust for market impact. Aligns assay offerings to customer segment needs increase market share & profitability results.

Customer and Market Insights

Gain deep customer insights to serve as Atellica Assays expert on customer targets (laboratorians, hospital administration, reference labs, ministries of health, etc.) building keen insights and understanding to contribute to the overall CLS business strategy.

Competitive Selling Strategies

Thoroughly understand competitive offerings and provide commercial organizations with appropriate positioning and tools to differentiate product(s) versus the competition in a profitable manner that adds value to the customer. Analyzes and synthesizes key competitive wins, competitive intelligence, and market research to lead the development of specific strategies to beat the competition. Develops go-to-market strategies & campaigns with detailed competitive playbooks aligned by portfolio. Works across the organization to address both conversion and method expansion opportunities.

Brand and Sales Support – Marketing, Scientific and Promotional Assets, Training Materials, Sales Playbooks Provide the commercial organizations with core promotional and scientific literature; sales aids; and support materials to help them exceed their sales plan. Identifies Disease State lab influencers, and reference sites.

Product Definition

Ensure that appropriate Customer Requirements/Design Inputs are crafted to guide the development team. Utilize market research; customer input; zone input; and other means to ensure profitable and differentiated products are delivered to market. Offer leadership to R&D and support organizations throughout development cycle (e.g. lead trade-off analysis…customer; financial; and timeline impact).

Ensure Launch and Post-Launch Success

Offer leadership to global commercial organizations and on-market teams through successful launch. This includes delivering appropriate launch materials/tools to differentiate product versus the competition and grow the business in a profitable manner.

Team Leadership & Talent development

Attract, develop and engage marketing talent. Drive team engagement through cross functional & global collaboration, professional development, and high-performance.

Internal Communication

Responsible for creating a clear line of communication between Global Marketing and all other areas that affect the product. This includes providing direction to the Commercial Areas/countries and all in-house groups.

External Communication

Interface with consultants; marketing research firms; ad agencies; other vendors; and customers to effectively manage and grow business profitably; while maintaining a customer focus woven throughout all activities. Another aspect of this responsibility is gaining positive media exposure in partnership with the Public Affairs department.

Required skills to have for the success of this role

  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience in varying specialties – marketing planning, building brand reputation, campaign development and execution, developing compelling sales messaging / materials and training, conducting market research, developing product portfolio strategy, and new product development and new launch initiatives.
  • Must have differentiating experiences in sales/commercial, marketing, new product development, and new product launch expertise.
  • Must have Core Lab Diagnostics experience.
  • Prior experience as a med-tech/laboratorian ideal.
  • Subject matter expertise in IA/CC assay product development, the clinical usage of assays, and understanding of the hospital and reference lab environments ideal.
  • Demonstrated skills in strategic, long-range planning and ability to manage a large direct and indirect marketing organization.
  • Demonstrated strength developing marketing talent.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage across the matrix in the context of a large global company.
  • Bachelor degree in business; life sciences; engineering or related technical discipline. MBA is preferred

The pay range for this position is $250,000.00 to $345,000.00 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
