The V.P. of Development is a full-time, exempt position of Denver Rescue Mission (DRM). The V.P. of Development reports directly to the President and CEO and is responsible for upholding the policies as set forth by the Board of Directors. This individual will provide the fundraising strategy and management of the Development team for Denver Rescue Mission as well as the Fort Collins Rescue Mission.

Hiring Range: $114,500 – $152,600 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing and working directly with the Directors of Philanthropy (DOP) in Denver as well as Northern Colorado to establish the necessary strategies relating to the Relationship Giving Team (middle and major donor giving).
  • Responsible for managing and working directly with the Director of Communications to establish strategies for DRM Direct Mail as well as Newsletter, On-line, Social Media, and Events.

  • Manage Grant Writer position (FT staff or outside contract) in the research and applications to local and national foundations.
  • Manage and direct the FT Legacy Giving position as well as set the annual strategy for communicating, stewarding and maintaining DRM’s Good Heart Society (GHS) members and prospects.
  • Serve as a liaison with outside consultants such as One & All, Money for Ministry, Orchard Foundation and Gateway.
  • Responsible for being the liaison for the DRM Foundation Philanthropy Committee.
  • Manage and direct the Specialized Giving position. This is a unique position that manages, processes and stewards gifts from DAFs, Company matching gift programs, EZ gifts, Company giving platforms e.g. Benevity, Thrivent and Combined Federal Campaign giving.
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring a DRM Culture of Philanthropy.
  • Discuss all new programs and ideas with CEO/President before implementing them.
  • Create monthly reporting system for all aspects of the development program.
  • Attend appropriate monthly/quarterly staff meetings.
  • Assist CEO/President in preparation for monthly Board meetings.
  • Handle other tasks as assigned by the CEO/President.

Requirements

  • Possess a BA degree or higher in Business, Sales, Marketing, with further Fund Raising education and certificates earned.
  • Personal faith-based commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, lived out and ascribing to DRM’s Statement of Faith.
  • CFRE certification preferred.
  • 8-10 years of managing a Development Department with revenues exceeding $10 million/yr.
  • Prefer experience in direct response, foundation/corporation, capital campaign fundraising.
  • Prefer experience in planned giving and middle/major donor cultivation.
  • Extensive experience in leadership and supervision of subordinate personnel.
  • Willingness to participate in occasional public speaking engagements on behalf of the Denver Rescue Mission.
