Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in broadcast journalism, communications, film studies, or a related field; supplemented by three years of experience in video production, broadcasting, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. Requires skill in the technical and creative art of television production. Requires knowledge of complex video production and editing equipment, systems, and software.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to direct, produce, and edit video projects and segments for Fulton County’s broadcast and cable television station, FGTV. Work includes production planning and set up; operating production equipment; and editing and post-production functions. Video Producer is distinguished from Production Assistant in that the former coordinates all aspects of production, whereas the Production Assistant is primarily responsible for one aspect (videography, editing, or beginning technical production assistance). Video Producer is distinguished from Video Producer, Senior in that the former functions as a producer for segments and stories, whereas the latter produces more involved stories, segments, and whole programs and functions as Associate Producer on flagship programs. Video Producer, Senior also serves as a lead worker.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Directs and produces stories, interviews, public service announcements, promotions, segments, and packages, both on location and in a studio: plans lighting and video designs; sets-up and stages the studio or location with appropriate lighting, set pieces, props, and backgrounds; coordinates, instructs, and cues crew, guests, or talent; edits scripts; keeps track of time for live and live-to-tape productions; selects camera shots and composition; shoots video as needed; ensures needed content is fully captured; and makes related artistic and technical production decisions. May also function as Associate Producer for full programs.
Arranges and edits audio and video content to create engaging, informative, accurate, and technically compliant finished stories, segments, and video projects: acquires, digitizes, and imports content; selects, sequences, and edits elements together using complex audio and video editing systems; creates and incorporates graphics, effects, and animation; makes audio corrections; records voice-overs; exports finished products to tape or digital files; and creates and duplicates copies of media.
Operates a variety of audio and video production equipment and technology: transports, sets-up, checks, and tests cameras, lighting, microphones, and related equipment; operates field and studio cameras; operates teleprompters, consoles, microphones, and other production equipment; and troubleshoots and makes adjustments to equipment.
Operates or uses various equipment, tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains television production equipment and motor vehicles; operates computers to enter data, research information, and compile and edit video, utilizing spreadsheet, database, Internet, e-mail, and specialized editing software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
Communicates with supervisor, producers, editors, talent/guests, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
