Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to develop and produce television programming and videos for the County television station, media sites, and training programs.
If selected for an interview, you will be required to provide three examples of your video graphic production experience.
Essential Functions
Coordinates work activities of staff assigned to a specific project or production: confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers; assists with complex/problem situations; and provides technical expertise.
Develops program plans: creates or is assigned events and stories; plans required content; researches, writes, and copy edits scripts or other content; identifies persons to interview; selects location for video shoots; and submits the plan to the Department Director for approval.
Produces content: coordinates the required equipment and personnel to conduct video shoots; attends events and meetings; schedules and conducts interviews; sets-up and operates the audio and video equipment and/or directs technical support staff regarding the same; and secures required release forms.
Produces programming: logs video footage; transcribes interviews; indexes film; writes voice-over script; secures sound tracks or supporting video footage; submits programming to Director for approval; coordinates editing of approved programs; and conducts final quality control on edited material.
Manages online content:; edits videos for online viewing; adds descriptors, titles, and tags; transfers and converts edited video; uploads content to various social media outlets; and streams live events as requested.
Performs basic editing; creates collages for DVD release; organizes and catalogues archive library; and compiles department operations data and research for internal reports and for public video projects.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Vocational training in videography, video production, broadcasting, or a related field; supplemented by five years of experience in filming, editing, and post-production work for multimedia production and broadcasting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, rain, temperature and noise extremes, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, electric currents, traffic hazards, and bright/dim lights.
