In this role you will be responsible for designing the look and feel of future digital user interfaces and service experiences for Mercedes-Benz and Smart cars. The role demands a high level of creativity and a never-ending hunger for future design trends. You possess outstanding visual design skills with an obsession for details. In addition, you inspire stakeholders as well as other team members. You will work as a core member of a multi-disciplinary team (internal, external and international) to bring innovative ideas and concepts to life with stunning designs. In so doing, you will lead the design process from early concept development to implementation into concept and production vehicles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver best-in-class user interface designs following a human-centered approach, in partnership with other teams/groups.
- Create fresh, innovative and inspiring visuals that push the Mercedes-Benz design DNA to the next level.
- Bring your designs to life creating interactive prototypes as needed.
- Be always at the forefront of new tools and design processes.
- Design research and strategy, keeping abreast of social, cultural, and technological trends and developments.
- Creative collaboration, project coordination, partner relations, and general team support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design, Media Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design or related
- 3+ years of experience in related field
- Excellent Visual and Interaction Design skills proven by an outstanding design portfolio
- Mastery of 2D design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Sketch etc.
- Advanced 3D & motion skills with tools like Cinema4D, Blender, AfterEffects, Premiere etc.
- Interactive prototyping capabilities with standard tools
- Understanding of hardware/software/service design challenges including mobile and tablet form factors
- Domestic travel is expected
- Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, use of hands for computer use and presentations
- Frequent sitting, standing and reaching with hands
Preferred Qualifications:
- Can do attitude, positive mindset, team player
- Flexibility to work on site in Carlsbad, CA
- Outstanding conceptual and communication skills
- Expert 3D and motion design skills
- 3D real-time experience (Unity or Unreal engine) with VR/AR development knowledge
The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $109,100 – $136,300.
