About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. About the Position: This position is with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation within the Community Rehabilitation Program. Incumbents perform a variety of instruction and training to individuals with disabilities who are receiving services in our Community Rehabilitation Program – AbilityWorks. Incumbents work under the general supervision of the Facility Manager (Vocational Training Supervisor).Examples of work performed in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:• Provides instruction, training, supervision and behavior modification services to consumers with disabilities to facilitate self-sufficiency;• Utilizes skills and techniques which address consumers’ learning abilities;• Simulates work environment utilizing behavior management techniques and promotes positive work traits;• Guides individualized training programs for clients with supervisory review based on Evaluator assessments;• Provides feedback to consumers relative to his/her behavior and performance;• Observes, records, and completes written reports of client’s progress on a regular basis;• Ensures client’s safety by demonstrating the safe use of machinery and equipment and provides constant client observation;• Provides basic skills training and simulated work activities;• Maintains equipment, supplies, and material inventories;• Completes required electronic data entry paper forms and reports as assigned and in accordance with established procedures and timelines;• Ensures facility and client safety standards are met;• Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and/or relevant certifications/licenses and 0-2 years of experience.Hiring agency preferred qualifications:A High School Diploma or high school equivalency (GED) and one (1) or two (2) years of experience directly related to the above described duties.
