PenTeleData, the industry leader in voice, data transport, Internet, Wi-Fi, security, and consultative services throughout the Northeast, is seeking a motivated VoIP Sales Engineer. If you have a strong desire to grow professionally and learn the access side of the service provider infrastructure, then this is the spot for you!
As a VoIP Sales Engineer with PenTeleData, you will be the subject matter expert on voice and VoIP applications. You will interact daily with customers as their technical lead in configurations and service implementation as well as interfacing with the PenTeleData Sales team. You will interact with a range of Cisco products and services to provide the solutions our customers are looking for!
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 2-4 years’ experience in enterprise or service provider environments
- Valid PA Driver’s License and good driving record
- Residency in Pennsylvania and ability to come into the Palmerton office as required
The technical, or “hard skills” we need run the gamut:
- Deep understanding of network design both in layer 2 and layer 3 environments
- Understanding of static routing and dynamic routing protocols (BGP)
- Deep understanding of VoIP protocols and design
- Good working knowledge of SIP and Hosted system designs
- Working knowledge of Visio and building network maps
The non-technical, or “soft skills” we are looking for include, but are definitely not limited to:
- Hi-level Project Management Skills (for customer turn-ups and changes)
- Exceptional Customer Service Skills.
- Strong/ Consistent Communication Skills – Oral and written
- Outstanding Troubleshooting Skills
- Ability to think logically to correct problems
- Ability to follow procedures and processes but still remain flexible for those one off cases
- Ability to present to groups of people recommended
- CCNA Voice or MCSE or other network related certifications recommended
Preferred Skills- These are skills that you have likely obtained throughout your time in IT and therefore “nice to have” but definitely not required. So do not worry if you do not meet all these!
- Working knowledge of PBX’s and other related telecommunications equipment
- Understanding of the Cisco networking fundamentals
- Network Security experience from designing to implementing policies
