Primary Responsibilitie

In the role of WA State Resilience Practice Lead, we’ll count on you to:

  • Lead expansion HDR’s portfolio of regional and community-focused resilience and climate-related projects. This could include, but is not limited to, work with municipalities, agencies and other governmental organizations, as well as at healthcare and university campuses and utility providers.
  • Serve in the role of Project Manager, Project Principal or Resilience Lead on related projects. Direct work of others in completion of required studies, documents, and reports.
  • Build and manage cross-disciplinary project teams of engineers, scientists, planners, and project managers to understand clients’ resilience needs, design approaches to address those needs and integrate resilience into projects and implement protocols to support smart decision making.
  • Develop diverse pursuit and project teams around resilience work, including but not limited to: performance- based risk assessment, climate change assessment and adaptation plans, vulnerability assessments, business continuity planning and asset management plans.
  • Advise clients and their consultant teams on technical, social, political, economic, environmental, and financial developments that influence large-scale projects
  • Actively engage colleagues across business groups, in collaboration with National Directors, to meet firm-wide resilience initiatives, share best practices and lessons learned, and ensure that an integrated design process is occurring on all projects.
  • Oversee successful completion of these projects, primarily in Washington, and occasionally in other locations, especially in the Pacific Northwest and Cascadia region, based on project needs and candidate’s skillset.
  • Assist clients with understanding funding related to the Infrastructure Investment Jobs Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, NOAA National Coastal Resilience Fund, and other similar programs.
  • Partner with HDR client leaders to help them understand and connect the value of resilience and climate-related services to their clients.
  • Participate in HDR’s local and corporate initiatives to integrate equity into our projects. Represent HDR on select resilience and climate-change organizations.
  • Communicate with external audiences via articles, white-papers and/or conference presentations to continue to position HDR as a leader in resilience.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• 10 years related experience
• A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software (Primavera P3 or SureTrak preferred), project management software (Prolog preferred)
• Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skill
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications
• A license/certification may be required
• PMP certification

The expected compensation range for this position is $133,389 – $190,555 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
