Job Summary
The Facilities & Operation department’s mission is to serve the WVC community by providing professional and effective services in support of a productive environment in which to learn, work and enjoy enrichment events. A key role is to help maintain a healthy supply-to-surplus steam and accurate inventory which helps to ensure resources are used to their full potential. The organization and tracking of incoming supplies and delivery is critical to maintaining an organized & functional warehouse as well as a functioning campus. The position also works directly with skilled trades or independently.

Essential Functions

  • Shipping and Receiving: receive all freight from delivery vans, delivery trucks and freight trucks. Unload, unpack, move and load various types of materials, equipment or electronics; document and inspect incoming items, verify condition, quantity and type; deliver all items to appropriate departments on campus; process all outgoing packages and mail, charge each piece to appropriate budget; keep up to date and knowledgeable of all postage rates and regulations; operate a forklift, hand trucks, dollies and other loading and moving equipment; maintain warehouse arrangement and maximize space to accommodate current stock; maintain all mailboxes for departments and faculty; drive light trucks, vans and other mobile equipment.
  • Inventory Control: Clerical and physical duties related to capital inventory database entry and tracking of physical equipment through campus-wide inventory audits. Tagging and tracking of all small and attractive items. Coordination of surplus equipment sales through online vendor and disposal of old equipment. Oversees campus archives, shred, and recyclables in addition to fleet vehicle reservations, issues keys, cleans and tracks mileage. Assembly and delivery of new furniture as well as participating in routine furniture moves. May oversee Student Work Study in support of these duties
  • Clerical: stack, stamp, open, code, sort, file or alphabetize correspondence, records, or materials according to established procedures and predetermined categories; maintain files and records; answer telephones; following clearly established guidelines, answer routine questions; receives and refers visitors; keyboard/type office forms, envelopes, labels and index tabs; photocopy and collate material; operate a variety of office equipment such as computer and associated software, typewriter, calculator and copy machine; maintains up to date information in database systems
  • Maintenance: Various manual work activities such as minor maintenance and repair as assigned through the work order database. Assist skilled trades in minor maintenance and repair in addition to seasonal snow removal.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Highly organized and physically able to do the required work.
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Six monhts clerical or technical experience in warehousing, stock keeping, shipping, receiving and operation of material handling equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of USPS, UPS, FedEx rules, regulations, procedures and the ability to stay current through the use of the internet.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees, staff and students at all levels.
  • Ability to handle confidential material and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office applications and database systems as needed.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and follow department and college policies, procedures and practices and to interpret/apply them correctly in various situations.

Terms of Employment:
The current vacancy in facilities and operations is a full-time, overtime and benefit eligible position expected to begin as soon as possible. The starting salary is $40,512 annually ($19.40 per hour) with periodic increases and earning potential to $45,552/annually.
Work hours for this position have some flexibility but are generally 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours and days may change depending on the needs of the college. The list established by this recruitment will be active for a minimum of three months and be used to fill this position only.

Work Schedule & Environment:

  • Work hours are generally 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; hours and days may change depending on the needs of the college. Work in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions.
