About the role:
Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Warehouse Supervisor supervises and coordinates all inventory, shipping, receiving, and pre-batching functions in our Burlington, NJ, facility. The ideal candidate will have a roll-up-your-sleeves and hands-on approach, have a positive attitude, works to empower and motivate their team, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The size of the team will grow as we scale.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of the newer team at Thistle’s new East Coast facility, located in Burlington, NJ, responsible for launching and growing Thistle East operations to bring delicious, plant-forward, and planet-friendly meals to customers on the East Coast.
This position is 100% onsite at our Burlington facility.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate and supervise all warehousing functions including staging, shipping, and materials management
- Keep up to date and maintain a working knowledge of current SOPs and processes
- Implement and champion new and existing initiatives across warehouse teams
- Support and help drive continuous improvement projects across the plant
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to develop strategic plans and procedures to increase the efficiency of warehouse practices.
- Ensure inbound and outbound trucks are unloaded and loaded; ensure accurate manifests and documentation logs
- Complete various management, organization, and planning tasks to maintain high performance of the warehouse’s storage and handling processes
- Supervise warehouse associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment; ensure all team members understand the department objectives and their roles on the team
- Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, and safety/OSHA regulations
- Maintain/process timecards and support performance reviews for hourly employees
- Identify training needs and areas for employee development and professional growth
- Serve as an example on the floor while fostering an environment that is focused on team spirit and collaboration
- Work to troubleshoot and resolve any challenges in real-time effectively and efficiently
- Work cross-functionally with Culinary, Production, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Logistics teams to ensure proper handoffs, QA, and other organizational standards
- Act as liaison and point of contact between leads, team members, and management team
What you’ll bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in business, management, logistics, or related field preferred
- 2+ years experience in supervising employees in a warehouse environment required; food manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge of New Jersey wage & time law
- Desire to grow into managerial positions and develop leadership skills
- Strong communication skills that put people first and the ability to balance empathy and direct feedback to both support and advocate for the team and also maintain consistent standards of performance
- Ability to form effective working relationships with a cross-functional team
- Ability to adhere to company SOPs and implement new initiatives as needed
- You bring your A-game every day and encourage your team to do the same
- You have a New Jersey or equivalent Food Handlers Certification
- Tech-savvy approach with everyday tasks and communication; comfortable with G-Suite(specifically Google Sheets)and Slack a big plus!
$60,000 – $70,000 a year
The salary range for this role is $60k – $70k and represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range at the time of the posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
